Kansas Gov Laura Kelly (D) issused a statewide "Stay at Home" order yesterday, and beyond the impact on corralling the COVID-19 epidemic, it also is forcing some in the Kansas GOP to straddle a very nasty fence, like US Representative Roger Marshall.

Tourists, visiting missionaries, grieving friends and relatives of a long-standing community member. These are the ties that link rural communities across the country to a global network of virus. Not only don't their local healthcare facilities have the resources to treat this disease, but residents are more likely to be older, in ill health, and lack health insurance.

Right now, Michigan has more positive cases of COVID-19 than all but two states had when Trump approved disaster declarations for those states. But Trump doesn't want to approve one for Michigan because, he says, Governor Whitmer was mean to him.

Not only is Trump's dawdling on funding more ventilators going to lead to unnecessary deaths, but it undermines Trump's efforts to get people back to work.

Let's cut through the bullshit here. If Trump wanted to look like a hero to the American public, he'd listen to virologists, epidemiologists, and public health experts and do what they asked — but no.

Donald Trump's touting of chloroquine as a COVID-19 cure on Friday resulted in a death Monday in Arizona when a couple ingested an aquarium version of the compound. Now, with 6 of his 7 most lucrative properties shut down, he wants to drop social distancing directives so he can "restart the economy". Such a move so soon very likely will kill over a million Americans.

"But the president said nobody could see this coming!" the Trumpists say. Bull. Shit.

This is a hurricane. You must be hunkered down and ready to ride it out. But this hurricane will last far longer than a week or two.
