The links state that transcripts are available, but I can’t find any way to link to one, on either Spotify or Apple. Help, please?

  2. Patrick Carty says:

Regarding any testimony or evidence presented to the Supreme Court of the January 6 insurrection, stolen secret documents, or presidential immunity, I’d say it is already irrelevant given Alito’s political posture and Clarence Thomas’s purchase. This would never have been tolerated in America except for the times we’re in now. And it’s not left versus right, it’s top versus bottom. The rich get richer and the poor get blamed. And the Supreme Court can be bought.

  3. Magbeth4 says:

Someone needs to remind Members of Congress and The Speaker(!) that there is only one President at a time. Trump ain’t it.
And, someone needs to remind Members of Congress and The Speaker(!) that they are elected to legislate, not to be cheerleaders to an EX-PRESIDENT who is being tried in a Court of Law for Election Fraud. A suggestion: if Members of Congress choose to cheerlead, then they should dress properly, wearing short skirts and waving pom-poms.

  4. Magnet48 says:

As far as I’m concerned the entire trial illustrates trump’s total manipulation of events & people for his own ends. One look at Cohen’s hangdog face tells you he is easy to manipulate, which trump did in spades, leading him on so his”attorney” can testify to ‘congress’ that he insisted he had nothing on trump. I just hope the jury has fine-tuned their collective hearing to grasp this fact.

  5. harpie says:

Thanks Nicole and Marcy! What a beginning.

[1:08] MW: I think Sam ALITO, for what it’s worth, is more of a fascist, and Clarence THOMAS is more corrupt, but they’re, you know, they’re peas in a pod. But, let’s start with the good news.

    • harpie says:

[3:52] EW: Right. Well, it’s a, who’s gonna do anything about it [SCOTUS corruption] It’s a co-equal branch of government. And um, I mean, honestly, I’m more concerned that we have no checks on the terrorists in Congress. And I mean this quite seriously. [MAGAts -not just the ones in Congress]

    • harpie says:

[8:50] MW: Understand the premise, because we don’t talk about this enough. Every one of these claims [ie: Merchan’s daughter making millions] is this claim that political involvement from any Democrat, any Democrat, disqualifies you for public life. Whereas, um, you know, Donald TRUMP, he’s got one of his own appointees who is presiding over his case, two of his appointees are presiding over Hunter Biden’s case. Aileen CANNON is worse, she’s still doing the Leonard LEO stuff. […]

[10:55] NS: And further to that, they have, I think it’s part of this Project 2025, vetting, if you want to apply for a job in the next TRUMP administration, fill out this, and it includes basically a loyalty pledge, that you are one of them. […] In this case, if you’re a Democrat, you’re in TRUMP’s words, an enemy of the people.

[11:25] MW: Right. That is what he has spent eight years doing with America. He is moving towards a one-party state. That is his intention. And that one-party will not even be based on any real ideology. The sole ideology will be Donald TRUMP.

      • bloopie2 says:

But those people who are complaining about “political involvement from a Democrat”, well, those people are Republicans! So, because they are members of a political party, they are automatically biased! So, we can’t trust what they say!

        Right?

      • earlofhuntingdon says:

Trump admits he wants to be president-for-life, starting with a third term. No one he hires will tell him it’s unconstitutional, he’d never get an amendment passed in time, and changes in laws, like congresscritter raises, are not ordinarily meant to benefit sitting incumbents. So, Donny will just take it, as if it were a pretty woman’s genitals.

Trump thinks saying the quiet part out loud allows him to claim that when he’s voted in, voters forgave him all his sins, so the legal system can’t touch him. It’s a one-legged stool of an argument, but it goes a long way in his cult.

        • earlofhuntingdon says:

Ironic that Trump should have delivered his nightmarish NRA speech in Dallas.

    • harpie says:

[13:14] [VIDEO and discussion about of various MAGAts at TRUMP trial accusing Judge’s daughter of supposedly making “millions” from work for Democrats]

[15:25] MW: I don’t think it’s proven that Michael Cohen is a liar.

[16:10] But, again, that subtext is important for us to identify, because Donald TRUMP has every intention of prosecuting anybody who testified against him. And so, when Todd Blanche is talking about Michael Cohen being the defendant, yeah, he’s trying to treat him as a defendant, but; I mean, remember, Michael Cohen, when he flipped on Donald TRUMP, he was sent back to jail, he was left in a jail with COVID, while Paul MANAFORT, who was in a jail without any COVID was removed to home detention. Michael Cohen starts to write a book. He’s sent back to prison.

I mean, I don’t think people really account for the degree to which it’s already happening. The degree to which everybody’s like, oh in a second term would be scary, scary, scary. And it’s like, no, it already happened with Michael Cohen. It already happened with Peter Sztrok. It already happened with Hunter Biden. It’s gonna happen with Cassidy Hutchinson, I guarantee you. And it’ll happen with Liz Cheney. They’re gonna go after all these people. [17:17]

  6. Clare Kelly says:

Thanks again for the cathartic weekly roundup which included my personal favorite: Rep Ocasio-Cortez retorting with “Baby girl. Don’t even play” to Rep Greene, a Christian Nationalist (to be kind) from Georgia.

Although not the most important development, it was definitely the retort I needed.

Greene pretending (?) she didn’t recognize the vernacular burn was icing on the cake.

“Exclusive access to bullshit” fit right in with Rayne’s open thread on the media, and Alito’s distress flag is indeed an apt “symbol of his bias”.

    • Konny_2022 says:

Alito’s distress flag is indeed an apt “symbol of his bias”.

And then blaming his wife for it.

      • klynn says:

SMDH. He’s a freaking Supreme Court Justice and he blames his wife. He had plenty of opportunity to get off his butt, go outside and take the flag down. He did nothing. An act of omission is an endorsement of the behavior.

Great show Marcy! Thank you Nicole!

        • P J Evans says:

Flying it upside down isn’t something that’s easy to do by mistake.

(The first house I remember dealing with a flag, it was hung parallel to the house front, so you had to know which way to put it up. It’s a lot easier on a pole.)

  7. Matt Foley says:

Why do Repubs think Bleach Blonde Bad Built Butch Body refers to MTG? Her name was never mentioned. Makes you go “hmm…”.

Glass half empty: Rudy and Eastman are finished.
Glass half full: More conjugal visits for MTG. Or is it BBBBBB?

    • CovariantTensor says:

Right. She was just making an inquiry whether, if a member called another member that, it would be an ethics violation.

      • bmaz says:

That is bull. MTG initially mocked Jasmine Crockett for not being able to read because of her long eyelashes.

        • c-i-v-i-l says:

It’s not bull. You misinterpreted the referent of “She.” Matt Foley and CovariantTensor were both discussing Crockett’s query to Comer, not MTG’s comment to Crockett.

  8. David Brooks says:

In the UK, flying the flag upside down is similarly a symbol of distress. Problem is, very few people actually know the difference (looking at you, British specialty shop not a million miles from here).

  9. Matt Foley says:

BBBBBBB (aka BBBBBB’s boyfriend) is out at RSBN. Hmm, I wonder which POTUS campaign he’s working for now.

  10. wa_rickf says:

Per Josh Gerstein, senior legal affairs reporter for Politico:

“JUST IN: Judge Cannon again dings Special Counsel Smith’s office in Trump classified docs case,” Gerstein wrote on Sunday. “Says she’s ‘disappointed’ Smith asked her to keep info secret to protect grand jury secrecy and witness safety but ignored those concerns at other times.”

    • Bob Roundhead says:

It seems as if she is keeping the witnesses names secret but allowing their testimony to be exposed. Am I wrong? If I am not wrong, couldn’t the names of witnesses be deduced from their statements?

  11. ExRacerX says:

Almost burned my flag—happened just the other day
Votes counted all night long—they could’ve called it yesterday
But they didn’t, and I wonder why—that’s why I’m lettin’ my flipped flag fly
Yes, I feel that I owe that—to Don Trump.

Might be because I had COVID for Christmas—and I’m not feeling up to par
Increasing my Christo-fascist agenda—like looking next door and seeing a “Fuck Trump” sign
But I’m not giving in an inch to fear—’cause I promised Trump he’d win again this year
And I feel like I owe it to Don Trump.

When me & Prez T. finally get together
We’ll get down in that Mar-a-Lago weather
And we’ll find a place inside to laugh
‘Bout how I warped the law just to pave his path
Well, I feel like I owed it to Don Trump.

    Apologies to CSNY.

[FYI – Good thing I went dumpster diving! Askimet treated this comment as spam and binned it. I suspect the trigger might be enclosing punctuation inside right and left brackets rather than parentheses. Could you try parentheses next time and let’s see if a comment with them clears? Thanks! /~Rayne]

Rayne I’m so sorry for the extra work. :-(
…neither brackets, nor parentheses, nor spaces seem to be working for me with this one…
