I cried when I saw the Trump family walk hand in hand down the courhouse steps together. The family that prays together stays together!

      • ShallMustMay08 says:

I try to preserve and “reserve” – but this is wonderful (in addition to all you add). Perfect.

  2. -mamake- says:

Thank you you both for posting these conversations each week. Oft times my “maturing” eyes are weary by this point in the decades-long-week. It is a relief to lay down, close my eyes and just listen.

And…whatever you did to make the sound so much better – Brava!!!
Grazi mille (losing my minimal Italian, sp?)

  3. ShallMustMay08 says:

I am going to rudely (I don’t want the app) but politely ask any listener here who can tell me who is doing the outstanding, beautiful score presented each week. Anything. Old/new versions.
Any clue – I think/presume/assume – Irish (I follow northern Old Brit Folk*) and really have been captured each week with this.
    *I totally made that up – Knopfler/Thompson folkie/rock fan

    Thank you in advance.

    • Nicole Sandler says:

The beautiful score? Are you referring to the short music clip I play at the beginning? Due to YouTube’s copyright insanity, I’ve been suspended multiple times for playing short clips…. So in searching for a bed to intro Emptywheel Fridays, I lifted a short clip from a karoke version of John Lennon’s “Watching the Wheels”… Is that what you’re asking about?
Or are you talking about the wonderful outro music at the end? That’s an unreleased piece by a wonderful artist named Lily Haydn. You should look her up. She plays violin (toured with Plant & Page among many others) and has released a lot of her own music.

      • bmaz says:

Yeah? Well this blog used to have a very good music component about it. That was excised out of petty ignorance.

      • ShallMustMay08 says:

Yes – the beginning and thank you for adding further the limitations you face and why. I suspected it was platform dependent.

It is Lili Hayden. I have heard her name and want more now. Plants, Raising Sand with Krauss was the connection for me with the violin from Your Long Journey. Alison does God, that’s fine, I add the dog.

Great RT interview here and surprised I never heard. Who doesn’t dance to The Wall of Death?
I have introduced his music to all family and friends -young and old- for years with success. One is classical trained (teaches US and Europe) and claimed to hate rock but joined me for an evening with band (not just acoustic). I will always remember the wide eyes and absolute joy he raved on about. Can’t miss – magic of music.

Appreciate all of the helpful replies and links.

        • Nicole Sandler says:

I’m always happy to share my music side with any and all! I did music radio for most of my career — in Los Angeles from 1987-2001. The best of those years (subjective) were the few years KSCA fm 101.9 was on the air. We were the last radio station owned by Gene Autry’s Golden West Broadcasters, and it was truly a special place. I’ve uploaded a bunch of interviews to the Online Internet Archive (archive.org) – just search my name. And I posted a dozen or so on my website at https://nicolesandler.com/vault/music-interviews/ There are some real gems there, so enjoy!

  4. xyxyxyxy says:

How do we get Fox removed as main source of “news” from military installations?

    • Clare Kelly says:

One idea: Support VoteVets campaign for said.

“Veterans group: Ban Fox News on military bases”

      Tom Nichols (The Atlantic) objected.

    • LaMissy! says:

During Trump’s reign, Fox was also on the teevee in more serious places like the Department of State.

  5. tinaotinao says:

We need a plan to get “news” on a fact based level again. Fucking fox news as it now stands, should be run out of this country on a rail. The fucking guy admitted it on teevee! It’s about the GREEN. So what must our response be now? Get the fucking money out of politics. The corruption is apparent. Citizen United anyone?

  6. tinaotinao says:

Okay, the man who OWNS foxs said it on tv, it’s about the GREEN. May we please realize, the larger problem is the buying of our government. That is CORRUPTION! Get money out of politics, starting with Citizen’s United.

  7. tinaotinao says:

Can I at least say, a problem we are having is with a lied to part of our populace. rupert murdock said it himself, “It’s about the green.” That statement means to me that a large section of our registered voters believe what they hear on that channel which spews lies. To me, the real problem is, our Supreme Court has allowed these people their lies. For now, it’s still about the money. If you let this crap continue to stand (Citizen’s United) we are being bought and sold.

    • Rayne says:

Not certain what triggered moderation but you’ve got three comments mentioning Fox, Rupert Murdoch, and money. Is there one or two we can kill as redundant?

  8. bmaz says:

Yes, Nicole, thanks to Jason, I know full well your history with music. But that part of the Emptywheel blog has been not so artfully excised. It used to be here, but no longer.
